saying bismillah and al hamdulilah... Empty saying bismillah and al hamdulilah...

Ven 21 Déc 2007 - 3:04
From Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) the prophet, peace and blessing upon him, said” Allah is pleased with the slave that eats a food and praises Him, or drinks a drink and praises Him
Narrated by Muslim #2734

Explanation

This haddith is evidence that the pleasure of ALLAH is obtained with reason, and in this case it can be obtained with a very simple reason. All praises to ALLAH.
ALLAH is pleased with a person that eats, and says “al hamdulilah” when he finishes. And likewise for the person that drinks and says “al hamdulilah”.

Eating and drinking has etiquettes: actions and statements
As for the actions, the person should eat and drink with his right hand. It is not befitting for him to eat or drink with his left hand. It is haram (eating or drinking with left hand) for the most correct position, based on the prohibition of the prophet (peace and blessing upon him) for a person to eat or drink with his left hand. He (peace and blessing upon him) informed us that shaytan eats and drinks with his left hand.
Once, a man ate with his left hand in his presence (peace and blessing upon him), he ordered him” eat with your right hand”. The man answered that he could not do so, the prophet (peace and blessing) added ” may you ever be able again”. That same man was reported after that not being able to raise his right hand towards his mouth, this was a punishment for him. May ALLAH preserve us.

As for the statements, it is to mention the name of ALLAH when eating. He says “bismillah”
What is correct is that saying “bismillah”when eating and drinking is obligatory. Verily the person that eats or drinks without the “tasmiya” is a wrong doer. I.e. if he eats or drinks without saying “bismillah” the shaytan eats and drinks with him.

This indicates that a person must mention the name of ALLAH if he desires to eat or drink. In case he forgets to say bismillah at the beginning of the meal and he remembers it during the corse, he should say”bismillahi awaluhu wa akhiruhu”(bismillah at the beginning and at the end)
Also, if one forgets to say the tasmiya, he should be reminded. The prophet (peace and blessing upon him) as mentioned Omar ibn abi salamata (raised by the prophet peace and blessing upon him)-son of the husband of umm salamata may ALLAH be pleased with him-when food was presented to them, he (Omar ibn abi salama) started eating. The prophet (peace and blessing upon him) told him”o young man mention the name of ALLAH, eat with your right hand, and eat in front of you”

This is an evidence that every person should say it even eating in a group. Every individual has to say the tasmiya, and it is not enough for just a person to say “bismillah” for the group but rather everyone has to say it.
The tasmiya when eating or drinking is from the words that one must say. It is wajib (obligatory); it must not be omitted. When one finishes (eating or drinking), the etiquette is to praise ALLAH for that favor, as ALLAH facilitated for him the meal. No one, beside ALLAH, is able to facilitate food, ALLAH says” Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? (63) Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? (64)” Surat 56. In the same chapter ALLAH says also” Have ye observed the water, which ye drink? (68) Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? (69)…
